Chungas patrol post staffers allegedly tortured the brother of a civil judge and detained him for an hour on Saturday night.
Muhammad Walayat Gondal of Ajowal village told newsmen he returning from Rawalpindi by car at 8pm when the patrol police stopped him and asked him to give them a spare wheel because a Tyre of their van had got punctured. Walayat told the policemen that he could not give them a spare wheel as he had to travel a long way. This infuriated the policemen and they allegedly tortured him and detained him at the chowk for an hour.
Walayat said that the policemen released him when he informed them that he was the brother of a civil judge. He said that he had given an application to the Mandi Bahauddin district police officer for registration of a case. When contacted, patrol post in-charge SI Pervez denied the allegations. He said that they only exchanged hot words with Walayat. He said that they were there to serve and protect the citizens, not to torture them.
THREE INJURED ON ROAD: Three people, including a woman, were injured in different road accidents here on Sunday.
In the first incident, two motorcycles collided with each other on Phalia Road. As a result, Mudassar Sultan was critically injured.
In the second incident, the wife of Qaisar was on her way when a motorcycle hit her at Sadr Chowk. As a result, she was injured. In the third incident, a car hit motorcyclist Muhammad Junaid, injuring him. The injured motorcyclist was shifted to the Mandi Bahauddin DHQ Hospital.
